This is my first blog. Ever. So I don’t really know what I’m doing. But come to think of it, that might be a good thing. That might keep me open and flexible and listening to advise. Hopefully.

So my name is Michelle, and I’m going to Africa. This is a dream come true. Growing up, I would hear sermons about missions and would be ready to hop a plane that day. However, everyone told me I had to finish school first. So, this past May I graduated from high school, and I am off to Africa. That is, if I can raise my support.

Right now I am living at home with my parents, going to church, hanging out with friends, and working at Smoothie King where I have a new favorite smoothie everyday. I’m seriously getting addicted to the things.

I just got home last night from camp with my youth group at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. (Talk about the beauty of God’s creation.) The camp was Student Life at the Beach and was my last camp. The speaker was Louie Giglio and worship leader was Chris Tomlin. It was a blessing, and I hope to blog about what I learned there soon. Right now I’m trying to figure out how to be back at home with my normal routine but not lose what I learned about God and life at camp.

Well, I look forward to getting into the world of blogging and getting to know all yall.

  1. Get post! You are better at this than you think. We will be looking forward to reading about all God is doing in your life. We love you!

  2. WELCOME!

I believe that I get the first comment again, so long as someone isn’t writing one right now and hits submit before I do.

As far as blogs, here’s my advice. Keep things interesting. Don’t stick to a format. It’s so much more than a journal of daily events. Don’t be afraid to tell a story, write a poem or even post something completely nonsensical. It’s all good.

    If I may quote you:

“That is, if I can raise my support.”

If God wants you to go, there’s no ‘if’ about it. The money is already taken care of. You should head over to my blog and read the post titled “Peace of Mind”. (It’s in the archives for the month of May.)

Before you go to Africa, you need to steal all the trade secrets to making smoothies and bring them to Africa to share with the rest of the team. I would be willing to declare undying love if you did that. Seriously.

Well, I don’t want to make my comment longer than your post (I’m known for rambling on and on and on…) so I’ll stop now and wish you a great day.

    May God bless ya!

  3. WELCOME! Im so glad to see you wrote your first blog. I can’t wait to meet you in a few months. ahhh I love smoothies,I agree with Luke you need to show us what you know lol

hopefully I will get to talk to you more on Wednesday during the conference call. Until then, God bless.

  4. Hey! I think we’re in the same boat for blogging… it’s very forgien to me as well. But I must say, you did a very nice job for your first blog.
Oh, and if your worried about raising support… don’t be. You are meant to go on this mission, you are called by God to do His work, He will provide and will not fail you. Take a quick look at Matthew 6:25-34

    Good luck
